こころあてに をらばや をらむ はつしもの おきまどはせる しらぎくのはな
「を」と「お」、「は」の使い方は、現在とは異なります。現在、読むときは、「をらばや」を「おらばや」、「をらむ」を「おらん」、「おきまどはせる」は「おきまどわせる」と読みます。
言葉の意味
心あてに：あてずっぽうに
「あてずっぽうに」も初めて聞く言葉だと思います。これは、よくわからないものを選ぶときに使います。英語では「by wild guess」と訳されることが多いです。
例 どれが正しいかわからないけど、あてずっぽうに選んでみたら正解だった。
JLPTの試験中、正しい答えがわからない問題があったら、あてずっぽうでもいいのでどれか選んでマークしてくださいね。
心あてに (Kokoroate ni): I believe “あてずっぽうに atezuppō ni” might be a new word for you. This word is used when choosing something unclear or uncertain. It is often translated as “by wild guess” in English.
Example: I didn’t know which one was correct, but I chose it by wild guess, and it turned out to be the right answer.

はつしものおきまどわせる：はつしもとはその冬初めての霜のことです。「霜のおく」は、現在「霜がおりる(be frost, be frosted)」と表現されます。「まどわせる」は、ここでは「どれが白い花でどれが霜がわからなくなる」という意味で使われています。
“はつしも Hatsushimo” means the first frost of winter. The phrase “霜のおく shimo no oku” is currently expressed as “霜がおりる shimo ga oriru,” meaning “be frost” or “be frosted.” “まどわせる madowaseru,” here, is used to mean “it makes one unable to distinguish which is the white flower and which is the frost.”

作者の凡河内躬恒は10世紀前後に生きた歌人です。この時代、菊の花は深く愛され、13世紀には皇室の家紋（エンブレム）になります。現在、菊は桜とともに国の花とされています。
The author, Ōshikōchi no Mitsune, was a poet who lived around the 10th century. During this era, the chrysanthemum flower was deeply cherished, and by the 13th century, it became the emblem (crest) of the Imperial Family. Currently, the chrysanthemum, along with the cherry blossom, is considered a national flower.
