スポーツの日

 10月も半なかばになり、だいぶ過すごしやすい日ひが増ふえてきました。少し涼すずしくなって、夜よるにウォーキングをする人ひとも多くなってきました。秋は体を動うごかすのにいい季節きせつですね。今日、2024年10月14日じゅうよっかは「スポーツの日」という祝日しゅくじつです。この祝日は、毎年まいとし10月の第2月曜日と決められています。

 It is now mid-October and the days are becoming much more pleasant. It has cooled off a bit, and more people are walking at night. Autumn is a good season for physical exercise. Today, October 14, 2024, is a national holiday called “Sports Day.” This holiday is set to fall on the second Monday of October each year.


 この日は「スポーツを楽たのしみ、他者たしゃを尊重そんちょうする精神せいしんを培つちかうとともに、健康で活力かつりょくある社会の実現じつげんを願ねがう」日であるとされています。
 もう少しわかりやすく言うと「スポーツを楽しみ、他ほかの人を大切たいせつにする心を育そだて、健康けんこうで力強ちからづよい社会になるように願う」日です。

 This day is supposed to be a day for “enjoying sports, cultivating a spirit of respect for others, and wishing for the realization of a healthy and vibrant society.”
 To put it more simply, it is a day “to enjoy sports, cultivate a spirit of respect for others, and wish for a healthy and vibrant society.”


 「スポーツの日」は、もともと「体育たいいくの日」とよばれていましたが、2020年に名前が変かわりました。日付ひづけも、10月10日とおかでしたが、2000年に10月の第2日曜日に変わりました。もともとの日付は、1964年10月10日に開催かいさいされた東京オリンピックを記念きねんして制定せいていされました。

 ”Sports Day” was originally called “Taiiku no hi,” but the name was changed in 2020. The date was also changed from October 10 to the second Monday of October in 2000. The original date was established to commemorate the Tokyo Olympics held on October 10, 1964.

体育 スポーツ 運動

 スポーツは、個人こじんやチームで行われる運動うんどうや競技きょうぎのことです。陸上りくじょう競技、テニス、サッカー、格闘技かくとうぎや登山とざんなど、様々さまざまな活動かつどうが含ふくまれます。英語から来たスポーツという言葉ことばは、日本では1910年くらいに一般的いっぱんてきな言葉になりました。

 Sports are physical activities and competitions performed by individuals or teams. It includes various activities such as athletics, tennis, soccer, martial arts, and mountain climbing. The word “sports,” which came from English, became a common word in Japan around 1910.


 体育たいいくは、学校で行われる授業じゅぎょうのひとつです。英語ではP.Eです。子どもたちがスポーツを楽しみ、健康けんこうで安全あんぜんな生活せいかつを送おくるための身体からだを作ることを目的もくてきとしています。

 ”Taiiku” is one of the classes offered at school. In English, it is P.E.(Physical Education). Its purpose is to help children enjoy sports and prepare their bodies for a healthy and safe life.


 また、運動うんどうという言葉もあります。体を動かす活動全般ぜんぱんのことです。運動と言う言葉には、ウォーキングやストレッチ、ジムでのワークアウトなども含ふくまれます。スポーツは運動の一部いちぶです。
 日常にちじょうでは「最近さいきん運動してる?」、「運動不足ぶそくだから、ジムに行こうと思ってる。」のような使い方をしています。

 The Japanese word “undou” refers to general physical activities and movement. This word includes walking, stretching, working out at the gym, etc. Sports are part of “undou.”
 In everyday life, this word is used such as “Have you been exercising lately?” or, “I’m not getting enough exercise, so I’m thinking of going to the gym.”


 私はというと、最近あまり運動をしていないので、ストレッチくらいはするようにしていますが、健康はとても大事だいじなので少し外を歩こうかなと思います。
