May 4, Golden Week is almost over. This day is a national holiday called “Greenery Day.”

Greenery Day is a day to “become familiar with nature, appreciate its benefits, and nurture a rich spirit.”
Simply put, it is a day to “enjoy nature, be thankful for its blessings, and be enriched by it.

Trees and grass are soft and bright green at this time of year. The photo above was taken last May in Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu. It was taken near a volcano called Mt. Aso. The weather was beautiful and the mountain’s green was vivid and exquisite. Seeing the natural scenery refreshes my body and mind.

The following photos are also views taken from an observatory near Mt. Aso.

During Golden Week, I wrote articles with many difficult words such as Showa Day and Constitution Day, so I will take a break and post photos of plants in May.

Wisteria,” which looks like a purple curtain, can also be seen during this season.
