夏なつの夜よは まだ宵よいながら 明あけぬるを 雲くものいづくに 月宿つきやどるらむ

なつのよは　まだよひながら　あけぬるを　くものいづこに　つきやどるらむ

「よひ」は「よい」、「らむ」は「らん」と読みます。

言葉の意味

まだ宵よいながら：まだ宵よいだけど　While it is still early night
ここでは「まだ宵だと思っていたけど」という意味で使われています。
宵は、遅おそくない夜の時間、日が沈しずんでから9時ぐらいまでの時間です。
It is used here to mean “even though I thought it was still early night.” Yoi refers to the time of night that is not yet late, from sunset until about 9:00 PM.

明あけぬるを：夜よるが明あけたけど　Though the night has dawned

雲のいづこに：雲のどこに　In what part of the clouds

月やどるらむ：月が宿やどをとっているのだろう。どこの宿やどに泊とまっているのだろう。

現代語訳

夏の夜よるはまだ宵よいだと思っていたら、もう明あけてしまう。月はどこの雲の宿やどをとっているのだろう。

While I thought the summer night was still in its early hours, it has already dawned. In which cloud’s lodging is the moon staying?

春（はる）から夏（なつ）にかけて、だんだん日（ひ）が長（なが）くなりますね。まだ日（ひ）が落（お）ちたばかりだと思（おも）っていたのに、もう朝（あさ）になってしまった。月（つき）はどこの雲（くも）の宿（やど）をとっているのだろうか(夜（よる）がこんなに短（みじか）くては、宿（やど）をとる時間（じかん）もなかっただろう)。夏（なつ）の夜（よる）は過（す）ごしやすいから、実際（じっさい）の時間（じかん）よりも早（はや）く終（お）わるように感（かん）じます。

From spring to summer, the days gradually become longer. Even though I thought the sun had only just set, it is already morning. I wonder in which cloud’s lodging the moon is staying? (Since the night is so short, there would have been no time even to find a place to stay). Because summer nights are comfortable, they feel like they end faster than the actual time.

作者（さくしゃ）の清原（きよはらの）深（ふか）養父（やぶ）は、「枕草子（まくらのそうし）」 (The Pillow Book) で有名（ゆうめい）な清少納言（せいしょうなごん）の曽（そう）祖父そふ）（great-grandfather)です。 「枕草子（まくらのそうし）」では、夏（なつ）について以下（いか）のように書（か）かれています。

The author, Kiyohara no Fukayabu, is the great-grandfather of Sei Shonagon, who is famous for “The Pillow Book.” In “The Pillow Book,” she writes the following about summer:

夏なつは、夜よる。月つきのころはさらなり。闇やみもなほ、蛍ほたるの多おほく飛とびちがひたる。また、ただ一ひとつ二ふたつなど、ほのかにうち光ひかりて行いくも、をかし。雨あめなど降ふるも、をかし。

夏（なつ）は夜（よる）がいい。月（つき）が出（で）ているのはもちろんいいけど、暗（くら）い夜（よる）に蛍（ほたる）がたくさん飛（と）んでいるのもいいね。また、一（いち）、二（に）匹（ひき）だけ静（しず）かに光（ひか）っているのもいい。雨（あめ）がふっていてもいいね。

In summer, nights are the best. When the moon is out, it goes without saying. Even in the dark, when many fireflies are flying around and crossing paths. Also, when just one or two go by, glowing faintly, it is charming. Even when it rains, it is charming

夏（なつ）の夜（よる）は楽（たの）しい。昔（むかし）も今（いま）も変（か）わらないですね。下（した）のページは清少納言（せいしょうなごん）の歌（うた）です。
