Michael　～ マイケル ～

サッカーのワールドカップが始はじまりましたね。みなさん、見ていますか。
私は日本代表にほんだいひょうの試合しあいとその日のハイライトしか見ていないのですが、とても楽しいですね。「日本も強くなったなあ」と思おもいながら見ています。

The Soccer World Cup has started. Is everyone watching it?
I only watch the Japan national team’s matches and the daily highlights, but it’s really fun. I’m watching while thinking, “Japan has gotten really strong, too.”

アメリカの人はサッカーに興味きょうみのない人が多おおいと聞きますが、スタジアムはだいぶ盛もり上あがっていますね。日本の試合しあいがテキサスであったので、テキサスから発信はっしんしている動画どうがをよく見ました。バーベキューが食べたくなります。アメリカの文化ぶんか、肉を楽たのしみたい。

I hear that many people in America aren’t very interested in soccer, but the stadiums are quite lively, aren’t they? Since Japan’s match was held in Texas, I watched many videos shared from there. It makes me want to eat barbecue. I want to enjoy meat, the culture of America.


アメリカの文化ぶんかと言えば、映画えいがと音楽おんがくですね。前まえから楽たのしみにしていた「Michael」、やっと見に行くことができました。

Speaking of American culture, it has to be movies and music. I was finally able to go see “Michael,” which I had been looking forward to for a long time.


私は80年代はちじゅうねんだいの音楽を聞き、映画を見て育そだちました。初はじめてマイケル・ジャクソンのミュージックビデオを見たのは、小学校しょうがっこうの時です。友だちのお姉ねえさんが持もっていたレーザーディスクの「スリラー」。見たことのないダンス、聞いたことのないメロディ、衝撃しょうげきでした。それからは、日本のテレビでもよく見るようになりました。日本中にほんじゅうの子どもが「ムーンウォーク」をしていたものです。
だから、映画に出てくる歌はなじみのあるものばかりです。マイケルの歌はいろんなシーンで使つかわれてきたので、若わかい人でも聞いたことがあると思います。また、父親ちちおやとの摩擦まさつを描えがいているので、ストーリーに共感きょうかんできる人も多いはず。実際じっさい、10代じゅうだいの生徒せいとさんも「とてもよかった」と言っていました。

I grew up listening to 80s music and watching 80s movies. The first time I saw a Michael Jackson music video was when I was in elementary school. It was “Thriller” on a LaserDisc that my friend’s older sister owned. The dance I had never seen before and the melody I had never heard before were a total shock. After that, I started seeing him often on Japanese TV. Children all over Japan used to practice the “Moonwalk.”

That’s why the songs in the movie are all very familiar to me. Michael’s songs have been used in so many different scenes, so I think even young people have heard them at least once. Also, because it depicts the friction with his father, many people should be able to relate to the story. In fact, a student in their teens also said, “It was really good.”


簡単かんたんに感想かんそうを言うと、

本当にすごい。見てよかった。
2時間20分にじゅっぷんがあっという間ま。

To give my impressions briefly:
It’s truly amazing. I’m so glad I saw it.
The 2 hours and 20 minutes flew by in an instant.

オープニングの “Don’t stop till you get enough” からつかまれます。声出こえだし上映じょうえい (audience participation screening) にしておけばよかったと後悔こうかいしました。
それから、私は最近さいきんあまり映画館えいがかんでものを食べないのですが、ポップコーンを買かっておけばよかったとも思おもいました。途中とちゅう、ポップコーンが食べたくなります。

You are captivated right from the opening, “Don’t stop till you get enough.” I regretted not choosing an “audience participation screening” (cheering allowed).
Also, I haven’t really eaten snacks at movie theaters lately, but I also thought I should have bought popcorn. Midway through, it makes you want to eat popcorn.


ストーリーはジャクソン５のデビュー直前ちょくぜんから始はじまります。支配的しはいてきな父親ちちおやと、父親ちちおやと目めを合わせられないマイケル。子どもらしい子ども時代じだいを送おくれなかったマイケルの姿すがたは、見ていてちょっとつらくなります。

それでも、歌とダンスの才能さいのうでマイケルはあっという間まにスターになっていきます。
ステージのシーンが最高さいこうでした。
あれぐらい歌えたら気持ちいいし、何であんなに体が動くんだろうと思います。

The story starts just before the debut of the Jackson 5. The dominant father, and Michael who cannot make eye contact with him. Seeing Michael unable to have a normal childhood is a bit painful to watch.

Even so, with his talent for singing and dancing, Michael quickly becomes a star.
The stage scenes were the best!
It must feel so good to be able to sing like that, and it makes me wonder, “Why can his body move like that?”


歌は誰だれが歌っているのか気きになりますよね。「映画　マイケル　誰が歌っている」で検索けんさくすると、すぐに出でてきました。その記事きじには、マイケルの歌声うたごえにジャファー・ジャクソン (マイケル・ジャクソンの甥おいです) 、子役こやくのジュリアーノ・ヴァルディの声こえをブレンドする方法ほうほうをとっていると書いてあります。アカペラの部分は、ジャファー、ジュリアーノが歌っているそうです。
また、別べつの記事きじには、ジャファーはこの映画のために2年にわたりダンスの練習れんしゅうをしたと書かれています。ダンスシーンの迫力はくりょくも納得なっとくです。
作品中、ジャファーは間違いなくマイケル・ジャクソンでした。

It makes you curious about who is singing the songs in the movie, doesn’t it? When I searched for “Movie Michael who is singing,” it came up right away. That article says they used a method of blending Michael’s singing voice with the voices of Jaafar Jackson (Michael Jackson’s nephew) and a child actor, Juliano Valdi. It said that Jaafar and Juliano sing the acappella parts.
Also, another article says that Jaafar Jackson practiced dancing for two years for this movie. The intensity of the dance scenes makes total sense. There’s no doubt that Jaafar was Michael Jackson himself in the movie.


マイケルの才能さいのうと葛藤かっとう、愛あい、世界せかいを良よくしたいという気持きもちが、これでもかというくらい伝つたわってくる映画でした。本当にピュアな人だったんだなと思いました。人の苦くるしみに悲かなしみ、この世界せかいを愛あいしていたんだと。また、あの有名な歌やミュージックビデオはあのように作られていたんだという感動かんどうがありました。

It was a movie that conveyed—almost overwhelmingly—Michael’s talent, his conflict, his love, and his strong desire to make the world a better place. I truly thought, “What a pure person he was.” He grieved for people’s suffering and loved this world. I was also deeply moved to see how those famous songs and music videos were actually created.


マイケル・ジャクソンは「キング・オブ・ポップ」と言われていますが、マイケルの音楽を何なんと言うかと考かんがえた時、ポップスとかロックとか、そういうのじゃなくて、「マイケル・ジャクソンはマイケル・ジャクソンだよ」と言いたくなる気持きもちがあります。唯一無二ゆいいつむに(one of a kind)の存在そんざいだと思おもっています。まさに “There is no one like you. ～君みたいな人はいない～”。強烈きょうれつに光ひかりを放はなっていました。

Michael Jackson is called the “King of Pop,” but when I think about what to call Michael’s music, it’s not really pop or rock or anything like that. It makes me feel like saying, “Michael Jackson is just Michael Jackson.” I believe he is a one-of-a-kind, unique existence.　He truly was: “There is no one like you.” He gave his light shine with an intense brilliance.
