逢ひ見ての のちの心に くらぶれば 昔は物を 思はざりけり

あひみての　のちのこころに　くらぶれば　むかしはものを　おもはざりけり

「あひみての」は「あいみての」、「おもはざりけり」は「おもわざりけり」と読みます。

言葉の意味

逢あひ見ての のちの心：あなたと会ったあとの私の心
My heart after meeting and spending time with you.

～にくらぶれば：～とくらべれば　Compared to…

昔は：ここでは「あなたと過すごす前には」という意味です。
In this context, it means “before I spent time with you.”

ものを思わざりけり：何も考えていなかったようなものだ。
It was as if I had not thought of (felt) anything at all.

現代語訳

あなたと一夜を過すごしたあとの私の心に比くらべたら、以前いぜんの私は何も感じていなかったのと同じです。

Compared to my heart after spending a night with you, it is as if I had felt nothing at all in the past.


　「あなたと一夜を過ごす前の私は何も感じていなかったのと同じです」
　そんなことはないでしょうと思うのですが「あなたと過ごしてから、さらにあなたへの気持ちが強くなりました」という告白こくはくです。

You might think, “That can’t be true—surely he felt something before!” However, this is a heartfelt confession: “Since spending time with you, my feelings for you have grown even more intense.”

　
　この歌の作者さくしゃ、権中納言敦忠ごんちゅうなごんただあつは10世紀じゅっせいきの初めに生きていた貴族きぞくです。
　この時代じだいの恋愛は、夜男性だんせいが女性じょせいの家に来て朝に帰るスタイルです。男性は女性の家から帰ったらすぐにその時の気持ちを歌にして送ります。そのため「帰らなければいけないのがつらい」というような気持ちを詠よんだ歌が数多かずおおくあります。朝の歌のセンスが悪いと厳きびしい評価ひょうかが下くだされたようです。
　権中納言敦忠は非常ひじょうにもてた男性であったと言われています。歌で女性の心をつかんだのでしょう。この歌では「そんなことはないでしょう」と読む人に思わせることで、軽い笑いと強い印象いんしょうを残のこしたのかもしれません。

Romance in this era followed a style where a man would visit a woman’s house at night and return in the morning. As soon as the man returned, he would immediately compose and send a poem about his feelings. For that reason, there are many poems expressing the sorrow of having to leave. It is said that a man’s reputation could suffer if his “morning-after poem” showed poor taste.

It is said that Gon-Chūnagon Atsutada was an extremely popular man. He likely captured women’s hearts with his poems. In this poem, by prompting the reader think “Surely that cannot be true,” he may have left behind a light laugh and a strong impression.
